AuREUS: The Future of Harnessing UV Light

AuREUS (Aurora Renewable Energy & UV Sequestration) is an innovative solar technology developed by Carvey Ehren Maigue, an engineering student from Mapúa University in the Philippines. This system captures ultraviolet (UV) light and converts it into renewable electricity, functioning effectively even in low-light conditions where traditional solar panels may underperform.

How AuREUS Works:


  1. Absorption: Luminescent particles, extracted from certain fruits and vegetables, absorb UV radiation.

  2. Re-emission: These particles re-emit the absorbed energy as visible light.

  3. Energy Transfer: The visible light is directed toward photovoltaic cells located at the edges of the panel, where it's converted into electricity.
