  • Parabolic Trough Collector: Utilizes a long, parabolic-shaped reflector that focuses the sun's rays onto a receiver pipe located at the focal point of the parabola. This design enhances the system’s efficiency by concentrating solar energy.

  • Sun Tracking: The collector is equipped with a tracking system that tilts with the sun’s movement from east to west throughout the day. This ensures that the sun's rays are continuously focused on the receiver pipe, maximizing energy capture and efficiency.

  • High Concentration Ratio: The parabolic shape of the trough allows it to concentrate sunlight 30 to 100 times its normal intensity onto the receiver pipe. This high concentration ratio enables the system to achieve operating temperatures exceeding 750°F (400°C).

  • Receiver Pipe: Located along the focal line of the trough, the receiver pipe absorbs the concentrated solar energy and transfers it to a fluid, typically water, which is heated to produce steam.
